A branding project for RG Kickboxing, developing a bold and adaptable identity that reflects both the discipline of training and the high-energy atmosphere of fight night events. The work included logo design, a fight night variation, and a suite of social media graphics to promote the club’s activity and community presence.
RG Kickboxing: Brand Identity & Fight Night Visuals
Working with RG Kickboxing, a community-driven club based in Selby, I was tasked with creating a visual identity that captured the intensity and authenticity of the sport while remaining accessible to a wide range of members.
The brief required a logo that could represent the club across all touchpoints, from everyday training promotion to large-scale annual events. In addition, a secondary “fight night” identity was needed to elevate the club’s event branding and create a stronger visual presence for live showcases.



Design Work
The identity began with an exploration of typography and form, focusing on creating a strong and recognisable mark built around the RG initials. Early concepts ranged from aggressive, sharp-edged styles inspired by combat sports to more minimal and refined approaches designed for versatility across digital platforms.
The final direction centred on a bold, compact typographic logo, ensuring clarity and impact across social media, print, and potential apparel applications. Careful attention was given to spacing, weight, and balance to create a mark that feels both powerful and professional while remaining highly legible at smaller sizes.
For the fight night variation, the design was pushed further to reflect the heightened energy of competitive events. This included more dynamic compositions and a more expressive visual tone, allowing the brand to shift seamlessly between everyday communication and event promotion.
Alongside the identity work, a series of social media graphics were developed to support the club’s ongoing activity. These designs focused on strong typographic hierarchy and consistency, ensuring clear communication across training promotions, fighter announcements, and event marketing.


Outcome
The final identity provided RG Kickboxing with a cohesive and versatile brand system that works across multiple contexts. The core logo established a strong and recognisable presence for the club, while the fight night variation added a distinct layer of energy and excitement for events.
The social media assets enhanced the club’s digital presence, creating a more professional and engaging output that aligns with the quality of training and experience offered. Together, the work helped strengthen the club’s visual identity and improve the way it communicates with both members and wider audiences.

The project delivered a complete set of branding assets for RG Kickboxing, including a primary logo, a fight night variation, and a collection of social media graphics. These assets provide the club with a flexible visual system that supports both day-to-day promotion and large-scale event branding within the combat sports space.
